The NEET Topper Tops Bihar Board Intermediate Exam

The Intermediate results 2018 has been declared by Bihar School Examination Board, Patna on Wednesday. Kalpana Kumari, who has secured the AIR 1 in NEET 2018, has also topped Bihar Board class 12 Intermediate exam in Science stream. She scored 434 marks out of 500.

This year, around 12 lakh students appeared for Bihar’s state board class 12 examination in all streams. Out of this, 6.31 lakh that is 52.95 per cent students have cleared the examination.  A total of 44.7% students passed Science, 91.32% cleared Commerce and 61.32% qualified in Arts stream.

Kalpana Kumari, who topped the science stream by scoring 86.8%, originally belongs to Sheohar district. She was a student of Navodaya Vidyalaya in Sheohar in Class 10 and has appeared for Class 12 board examination conducted by Bihar board this year from YKJM College in Tariyani block.

Her father Rakesh Mishra is a lecturer in District Institute of Educational Training in Sitamarhi and mother Mamta Kumari is a teacher in Government Girls’ Middle School in Sheohar.

Nidhi Sinha from RDS College Muzaffarpur became the Commerce topper with 434 marks while Kusum Kumari from Simultala Awasiya Vidyalaya, Jamui, stood as Arts stream topper with 424 marks.

Kalpana Kumari’s performance both at National and State level has dismissed the negative generalisation against the Bihari student. People and media which ridiculed Bihar when the infamous Rubi Rai incident occurred should take a look at this and realize that Bihar is not lacking when it comes to having academic merit. It’s true that Bihar’s education system has it’s challenge but that doesn’t mean that Bihari students are any inferior. We are at par with the national level and infact we often excel at the national platforms.

We at PatnaBeats congratulate the students and hope for their glaring future and their well being.
