Patna: The Patna Cine Festa Film Festival is set to enchant the city from June 19 to 23 at the House of Variety within the Regent Cinema Campus. Organized by Cineyatra and House of Variety, this five-day cinematic celebration promises a rich lineup of national and international feature and non-feature films right in the heart of Bihar.
Festival Director Suman Sinha revealed that the event will include numerous screenings, master classes, and exhibitions. Esteemed National Award-winning director Nilaanjan Reeta Datta and acclaimed actor Vikas Kumar, known for his roles in "Arya" and "Kalapani," will conduct master classes, offering invaluable insights into the filmmaking process.
The festival will also feature a film poster exhibition from the National Film Development Corporation-National Film Archives, Pune, and a photo exhibition in collaboration with Canvas Patna. Highlights from the Bodhgaya Biennale, presented by Canvas Patna, will further enhance the cultural vibrancy of the event.
R.N. Dash, Patna Cine Fest chairperson and retired IAS officer, emphasized the collaborative efforts of Cineyatra and the House of Variety in organizing the festival. "This festival will become an annual highlight on Bihar's cultural calendar," he declared. Significantly, the festival will introduce online delegate registration via BookMyShow, a first for a Bihar-based film festival.
Artistic Director Raviraaj Paatel expressed gratitude for the support from the Film and Television Institute of India, National Film Development Corporation, National Film Archives of India, and the Film Critics Guild of India. The festival will showcase films that have premiered at prestigious international festivals such as Cannes, MAMI, IFFI, Busan, and Toronto, including Oscar-winning and nominated short films.
The advisory committee boasts notable members, including former Chief Secretary of Bihar Tripurari Sharan, IAS officer Mithilesh Mishra, senior film critic Ajay Brahmatmaj, art critic Vinay Kumar, theatre director Punj Prakash, and Dr. Satyajit Kumar Singh. IPS officer Ratn Sanjay is on the patron board. Ashish Madurwar leads the film programming, with Editor Ajay Kumar as the co-festival director.
The festival will be graced by renowned film personalities like Manoj Bajpayee, Vikas Kumar, Sanjay Mishra, and Anurag Sinha, underscoring its significance in promoting cinematic arts in Bihar.
