Pankaj Tripathi needs no introduction when it comes to acting or representing Bihari pride. This Bihari actor has struggled a lot in the past and is now living in his heydays. He’s witnessing a glorious acting career in Bollywood. Only in 2018, there are around 10 films released in which Pankaj Tripathi played major roles like Stree, Phamous, Angrezi Mein Kahte Hain and others and eventually all of them did good business on box office. A recent web series Mirzapur, having him in the lead antagonist role, has made him extremely popular as Kaleen Bhaiya. Hailing from a small village of Gopalganj district in Bihar, he’s made a name for himself.
Pankaj Tripathi has performed exceptionally in every field this year. Owing to his continuously- growing stature, Election commission of India has selected him as the State Icon for Bihar. He will now be the face of Election Commission’s campaign to raise awareness among voters and to encourage youngsters to participate in the electoral process.
Pankaj Tripathi is an example when it comes to staying humble ever after scaling the summits of success. The 42-years old actor is still connected to his roots and his village. His parents still live in the village and Pankaj Tripathi can be seen in his village very often. As now he’s been chosen to be the state icon of Bihar, we couldn’t think of anyone better for this role. Also he’s recently been awarded with Bihar Samman, an award given to individuals who have contributed to raising the honour of the state through their body of work. In his recent statement, Pankaj Tripathi says,
“In a democracy, voting is a huge and most important right of a common man. Whatever changes a common man wants to bring in the country he can bring it through the process of voting. Generally, today’s youth have a very wrong notion considering the voting day as a holiday in the calendar. They should not think that way and should come forward in huge numbers to vote, increase the voting percentage. This is a festival of democracy and should be celebrated enthusiastically and this is the only way to bring changes in the country.
It’s a very important and serious responsibility conferred upon me. I come from a very common family background in a small village and getting an opportunity from home state to represent the state for an important and sensitive work is an honour for me and my family. I’ll try to work with sincerity and abide with the responsibility conferred upon me by the Election Commission of India. I’ll be available whenever and wherever they need me, fulfilling my duties. It was my dream and wish to work in the interest of youth and in public domain which is soon going to be realised.”
As a state icon, Pankaj Tripathi will now have to encourage the citizens of Bihar for the polling. He will also have to help the youth to understand the significance of voting in Indian politics and how their one vote is equally important like others. He will be describing the people of Bihar, their rights and responsibilities to make them aware of their duty as a responsible citizen. This new role will certainly add brownie points to his personality.
Talking about his movies, Pankaj Tripathi will be starring alongside Hrithik Roshan in his forthcoming film Super 30. The Vikas Bahl directorial is scheduled to release on 25 January 2019.
