Moment of glory, as Prafulla Kumar from Bihar is conferred with Shaurya Chakra

Constable at 45th Battalion CRPF, Prafulla Kumar from Munger is decorated with the Shaurya Chakra in this year’s Gallantry awards in Rashtrapati Bhawan. President and Supreme Commander of Indian Armed Forces Ram Nath Kovind has endowed with three Kirti Chakras and fifteen Shaurya Chakras to Armed personnels for their courage, gallantry and dedication towards the country.

Prafulla Kumar is a resident of Mohanpur village from Dharahra Division of Munger. He is posted as a constable at the Central Reserve Police Force. He is one of the five CRPF personnels who are conferred with such a prestigious accolade because of their exceptional valour, gallantry and courage on the stake of their lives and eliminating terrorists in Jammu & Kashmir. These jawans have risked their lives and terminated six terrorists in 2 major army operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

On 5th of June, 2017, soldier of 45th Battalion, Prafulla Kumar has defused the terrorist attack at Sumbal CRPF camp at Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. Around 3:30 in the morning, terrorists equipped with bullets and weapons tried to attack the camp of Central Reserve Police Force. When the terrorists tried to enter the camp, Prafulla Kumar and Dinesh Raja sensed the unusual activity. Before they could process anything the terrorists started firing which is tackled by CRPF personnels bravely. This act of bravery led them to honourable accolade like Shaurya Chakra which was announced on the occasion of 72nd Republic Day.
