Patna is consistently growing in terms of its standards of living, education, and intellectuality. It’s becoming more and more happening with numerous new places coming into existence, celebrities lining up in the city to promote their works, big and small startups opening their ventures and varieties of other events organising to entertain and provide exposure to the Patnaites.

One such event is TEDx Bankipur, which is scheduled to happen for the second row on 9th February 2020. The venue of the event is the Bihar Chamber of Commerce, Patna. It’s an independently organised event where speakers from varying backgrounds like Science, Design, Technology, Culture, Politics speak and share their experience. Let’s get to know more about their work and their hustling journeys.

Maithili Thakur

Maithili Thakur, the young sensation from Bihar is a singer who covers songs with a folk blending. Following multiple reality shows, her popularity on social media rose. She has 1.45 million subscribers on YouTube and 3.1m followers on Facebook. Most of her videos have reach in millions. Even notable musicians Vishal Dadlani has tweeted about her singing skills. 

She has two younger brothers, named Rishav and Ayachi, who accompany Maithili Thakur in her video. They play Tabla, help in the chorus and provide background music behind her singing. Maithili Thakur sings Maithili and Bhojpuri songs including chhath songs and Kajris. In 2019 Maithili and her two brothers were made the brand ambassadors of Madhubani by the Election Commission. Her videos have no autotune, special recording or equipment.

Nilotpal Mrinal

Nilotpal Mrinal is a renowned Indian Hindi author. He has already established himself among the readers and literary intellectuals with his first novel ‘Dark Horse.’ His novel has also received the ‘Sahitya Akademi Youth Award’ of 2015. His recent novel “Aughad” launched in 2019 has also done well. Mrinal is one of the most popular Hindi writers of the 21st Century.

Pawan Kumar

Pawan is an Indian DIY content creator. His channel ‘Artkala’ is the 2nd biggest DIY creator in the World. This 18-year-old boy has already established himself in content creation over YouTube, Facebook & Instagram. The video contents include tutorials, nail art, and other awesome ideas from time to time. The videos are curated to give ideas of life hacks and even transformation of useless and waste materials into something useful and creative.

Kumar Prashant

Kumar Prashant is an Indian upcycling artist who is working with waste to create social and environmental change and trying to bring livelihood options to those who need it. Last year Prashant embarked on a journey of motorcycle travel from India to Scotland to carry out a series of projects for peace, sustainability, and wellbeing.

He conducted a 30 months journey which is called Vasudhaiva Ride. This ride covered over 40,000 km and 22 countries. During the ride, he completed some projects like ‘Resilient Design And Upcycling’, ‘Home From Waste Sustainable Accessible Housing’, ‘Upcycled Learning Space And Accessible Education’.

 The essential mission was to connect people and organizations across borders to exchange resources, build local capacity and share stories, thus strengthening global efforts to overcome pertinent issues.

Piyush Sinha

Prof. Piyush Sinha is one of the few resources in qualitative research in the country. He is the Director, Advisory and Researcher at CRI. He has 37 years of Advisory, Research and Training as well as Managerial experience in marketing, sales, retailing, service and business strategy for the product as well as service companies (B2C and B2B), in the domains of Retailing and E-Commerce; Luxury and Lifestyle; Healthcare; Decision Sciences and IT. He has been involved in more than 100 advisory and training initiatives in these areas.

Prof. Sinha holds a Ph.D. in marketing. He was a Professor of Marketing at the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM Ahmedabad), India till March 2018. Before IIM Ahmedabad, he taught at IIM Bangalore, XIMB and was Dean at MICA. He has published articles in international journals. He has been a member of editorial boards. He has published several books.

Arunabh Kumar

Arunabh Kumar is the founder of The Viral Fever and Indusverse. His venture The Viral Fever (TVF) is the pioneer of web-series in India. Web series like ‘Permanent Roommates’, ‘Pitchers’ and ‘Trippling’ created a new segment in the digital world. His other venture Indusverse is a new-age graphic novel brand.

 Arunabh Kumar was brought up in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. He did his B. Tech in Electrical Engineering from IIT Kanpur, he joined Shah Rukh Khan’s production house Red Chillies Entertainment as an assistant’s position under Farah Khan. He was named in The Economic Times 40 under Forty, the list honors 40 of the brightest corporate leaders, entrepreneurs and owner-professionals of the country under the age of forty.

Ajit Anjum

Ajit Anjum is a senior journalist and writer. His career started with BAG films as director of a talk show. He then worked at Aaj Tak as a senior producer. However, he rejoined BAG films and launched News 24 in the year 2007. Ajit left News 24 in 2014 and joined India TV as its managing editor.

It was Ajit Anjum who conceptualize shows like Red Alert, Sansani and Pol Khol for Star News. He was awarded the prestigious Ramnath Goenka Award for his reporting during ravaging flood in Bihar in 2010. He steered a campaign ‘Rahat lekar Bihar Chalo’ on News 24 which resulted in hundred truckloads of relief materials reaching to the victims. Considering his contributions Fem magazine mentioned him in the 50 most powerful people of Bihar in its survey conducted in 2016.

Rajkumari Devi

Rajkumari Devi, popularly known as Kisan Chachi is an Indian farmer from Muzaffarpur district, Bihar. She was awarded India’s fourth-highest civilian award the Padma Shri for her expertise in farming. She knows all the nuances of good farming practices and has empowered more than 400 women from her village.

After acquiring farming skills and knowledge, Rajkumari started cultivating vegetables, fruits, trees, and shrubs on her land. Unlike other farmers who sell their vegetables to the market directly, Rajkumari saw an opportunity to start a business of her own. Making use of her skills, she used her farm-grown vegetables and fruits to make homemade pickles, jellies, and, jams. Rajkumari has 23 varieties of jams and pickles, which are also sold in metros like Mumbai and Delhi. Also read this:
