Janmashtami 2022: Kanha has a special relationship with cucumber, and offers these things to Laddu Gopal

Krishna Janmashtami is a big festival for Hindus. Not only in India but also in foreign countries, the followers of Kanha celebrate the birth anniversary with great enthusiasm. Due to the difference in Panchang, this time Janmashtami will be celebrated for two days on the 18th and 19th of August (Krishna Janmashtami 2022 Date).

Many things are used in the worship of Bal Gopal on Janmashtami, but the most important thing on the birth of Laddu Gopal is the cucumber, it is believed that without the cucumber, the birthday of Krishna is considered incomplete.

Importance of Cucumber in Janmashtami Puja

Just as a child is separated from the uterus by cutting the umbilical cord at the time of birth, in the same way, at the time of birth, there is a tradition of cutting the stalk of cucumber and giving birth to Kanha. Cutting a cucumber on Janmashtami means separating Bal Gopal from the womb of Mother Devaki. The process of cutting the stalk from the cucumber is called cord piercing.

Bhog of cucumber is offered to Bal Gopal on Janmashtami. It is believed that Lord Krishna is very pleased with the cucumber. By offering cucumber, Nandlal takes away all the troubles of the devotees. After worship, this cucumber is distributed in many places as prasad. It is believed that if the cucumber which has pierced Kanha’s placenta, is given to a pregnant woman, then children are born like Shri Krishna.

Janmashtami Puja Vidhi

Shri Krishna was born on the day of Janmashtami at 12:00 in the night. On this day, use cucumber with stalks and light leaves in the worship of Kanha. At 12 o’clock at the night, cut the stalk of cucumber with a coin and give birth to Kanha. After this, celebrate the arrival of Bal Gopal by playing the conch and then duly worship Banke Bihari.

Janmashtami Bhog

Makhan and Mishri

Both Makhan and sugar candy are dear to Shri Krishna. In such a situation, on the day of Janmashtami, Lord Krishna must offer both these things. Make sure to use basil leaves in this.

Coriander Panjiri

On the day of Janmashtami, Lord Krishna is offered coriander Panjiri. For this, mix cashew, almond, sugar candy and ghee in coriander powder and offer it to Kanha.

Makhana Kheer

Shri Krishna loves Makhana Kheer. In such a situation, on Janmashtami, offer kheer containing makhana and dry fruits to Kanhaiya.

The worship of Lord Krishna is considered incomplete without Panchamrit on Janmashtami. On this day Lord Krishna is anointed with Panchamrita and also distributed as Prasad.

Makhana Paag

Makhana Paag is prepared only on the occasion of Janmashtami. Offer it to Lord Krishna on this day.

Flour Panjiri

It is believed that Lord Krishna is very fond of Flour Panjiri, so Kanha must be offered both coriander and flour Panjiri.

Doodhi ka Halwa

Why go over the conventional ghee-soaked moong dal ka halwa when you can easily replace it with the bottle gourd. Shocked? Don’t be. This is a healthy alternative which you must try. Take 1 medium-sized bottle gourd(lauki), and grate it. Next, heat a pan and add ghee, roast the dry fruits and nuts, and transfer them to a plate. To the same pan, add some more ghee and add the grated lauki, keep stirring. Add sugar and other dry fruits before serving as bhog.

Dates Basundi

This is a healthy prasad that can be served at Janmashtami. Made with milk and dates that have been turned into a smooth paste in the blender, it is mixed with dry fruits and crushed nuts and refrigerated before being served.

This year, Janmashtami tithi starts at 09:20 pm on August 18 and ends at 10:59 pm the following day.
