Bihar’s Shahbaaz made his test debut in India vs South Africa Test held at Ranchi

Shahbaaz Nadeem of Muzaffarpur, Bihar has been selected in the Indian team. Nadeem got a place in top 11 in the last test match against South Africa in Ranchi. After being the top wicket-taker bowler continuously from the last two years, finally, he got the chance to represent his country.


Shahbaaz Nadeem belongs from Chandwara in Muzaffarpur. He lived in Dhanbad and completed his schooling from De Nobili School, Mugma FRI.30 years old Nadeem used to play from Jharkhand team in Ranji matches as a left-arm spinner. Nadeem started playing cricket since he was 11 and after two years, he got selected in under 14. Later he played under 17, under 19 and also performed well in Ranji. He took 424 wickets in just 110 first-class matches. Nadeem has taken 10 wickets 5 times and 5 wickets 19 times and this was the main reason behind his selection. He made his first-class cricket debut on December 2004. He has played for Bihar Under-14 side and Indian U-19s and currently plays for Jharkhand and Sunrisers Hyderabad. In September 2018, he set a new record for the best bowling figures in a List A cricket match by bowling 10 overs, took 8 wickets against Rajasthan playing for Jharkhand.

 

Nadeem’s father Jawed Mahmood is a retired DSP. After working in the police department his father had left an image of honesty. Nadeemholds good academic records too. He got well support from his father who accompanied him in playing cricket in vapour lights. Currently, Nadeem is working in Reserve bank of India.

October 2018, Shahbaz named in India’s Twenty20 International (T20I) squad for their series against the West Indies, but he chose did not play. In October 2019, he was added to India’s squad for the third Test match against South Africa, as cover for Kuldeep Yadav. He made his Test debut for India, against South Africa, on 19 October 2019.5 years after making his first-class debut in a match which former India captain MS Dhoni was a part of, Nadeem was finally handed his India cap as the hots decided to go for three spinners with Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja being the other two. Nadeem replaced Ishant Sharma in India’s playing XI.
