Shreyasi Singh became the first woman from Bihar to get Arjuna Award from President of India- Shreyasi Singh, a well known shooter from Bihar, who claimed the gold medal in the Women’s Double Trap event at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, 2018, was honoured with Arjuna award by President of India on 25th September, 2018 at Rashtrapati Bhawan. It is a moment of happiness that Shahi litchi also got a new identity when it was awarded the geographical indication tag. Bihar’s delicious cuisine Silao Khaja gets GI tag- If you’re anyhow connected to Bihar then you must have heard about “Silao Ka Khaja“. Khaja is a multilayered, crispy sweet and a conventional Bihari dessert. Of all the places you could get Khaja from, Silao- a town in Nalanda district of Bihar- is utterly prominent. On this December 11th, the Geographical Indications Registry has granted Geographical Indication or GI tag to Silao Khaja. Read more here 8. Patna got ‘Sabhyata Dwar’ which is serving as the ceremonial gateway to the city of Patna- The ceremonial arch was originally envisioned by late ex-Vice Army Chief Lt Gen (retd) S K Sinha as the ‘civilisation gate’ that would beckon travellers and passersby to the city of Patna and draw them to its rich and multi-layered history, as it did in the reign of the Mauryan Empire over 2,500 years ago.
