This Boy From Hajipur got 100 percentile in CAT

Common Aptitude Test, the annual examination for admission in India’s top Management institutions, is considered to be one of the toughest exams in the world. This year’s CAT results brought a good news for Bihar when state’s very own Mayank Raj was one among the 20 students from all over the country to have secured a perfect 100 percentile.

Mayank hails from  Vaishali district. Coming from a humble family background, both of Mayank’s parents are school teachers. His family still resides in Hajipur. Eldest of the two brothers, Mayank did his studies in Hajipur’s Indian Public School till 10th standard. He has been a prodigy since his early school days with securing 10 CGPA in his 10th Boards and cracking IIT’s joint entrance exam to get a seat in India’s top-most engineering school, IIT Bombay. He’s currently in the final semester of his Civil Engineering course.

To Mayank, his result of CAT was as he had expected. In his conversation with PatnaBeats, Mayank told us that he had expected above 99 percentile after his exam and he and his family are ecstatic with him scoring a 100 percentile. In his placements in IIT-Bombay he has already got a job offer froma leading bank.

When asked about his decision of changing his field from Engineering to Management, Mayank said

While pursuing my graduation in Civil Engineering, I realized that this is not the field for me. I found myself to be more interested in pursuing a career in public policy. Thus I decided to do an MBA course as it will help me with the field that I am interested in.

Talking about his preparations for the exam, Mayank told us that he had not joined any full time preparation coaching class but opted for practice test series for CAT. Appearing for the test series helped him to know what his weak points are and what are the things that are essential for cracking the exam and then he worked on those.

As for his future plans, he is preparing for the interviews for admission in the management schools. Indian Institute of Management of Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata are his preferred choices of IIMs.

We congratulate Mayank Raj on his incredible feat and extend our well wishes to him. He has made Bihar proud and has also gave the inspiration to the youth to pursue the field where their heart lies and it’s never too late to go for one’s favored field of occupation.
